Tesco Extra in Abingdon has reopened as normal today (Sunday, February 11).

The store, in Marcham Road, announced a sudden, temporary closure yesterday (Saturday, February 10) as flood water began to encroach over the car park.

Customer deliveries were cancelled, even for some residents in Didcot as they are served from the Abingdon store.

Tesco’s website incorrectly listed the store as currently open. The customer service team however confirmed the store has reopened as normal today and will close at 4pm.

The store was forced to close in identical fashion to yesterday early last month, as flood water filled and rose over the car park. Diversions were put in place, with over 780 customer orders cancelled at short notice.

Nine flood warnings are in place for Oxfordshire today, with 38 flood alerts in place for the wider area.
