Challenging driving conditions are expected as a yellow weather warning for heavy rain has been issued this weekend. 

Oxfordshire is expected to get heavy rain this afternoon which will continue into Sunday. 

The county council has highlighted river levels are already high and there is a risk of flooding from the heavy rain.

Drivers have been warned to expect tricky conditions from 3pm today until 6pm tomorrow.

The Met Office's yellow weather warning states there will be spells of rain, some heavy, which will push east across most areas through Saturday and Sunday.

The weather service stated bus and train services could be affected with journey times taking longer. 

Spray and flooding on roads is also possible as well as interruption to power supplies.

It comes as large parts of Oxfordshire have already been submerged by flooding this year prompting Prime Minister Rishi Sunak to visit the Environment Agency and homes in Osney Island in Oxford on January 7. 

A group of homeowners subsequently penned a letter to Mr Sunak calling for better flood defences to be installed in the city following the devastation that followed Storm Henk.

The temperature is expected to be a maximum of 13 degrees Celsius today and 14 degrees on Sunday.
