Residents and businesses affected by flooding in South Oxfordshire and the Vale of White Horse caused by Storm Henk can now formally apply for financial aid.

Residents whose homes were internally flooded or those who had to leave their properties or close their business for 48 hours or longer may be entitled to support.

The money comes from government funding schemes, which the local district councils are administering.

A range of options has been suggested for the ways support could be handed out.

These include grants and council tax reductions or business rates relief.

Full details, as well as the relevant application forms, can be found on the district councils' websites.

Applicants are urged to make sure they are eligible before applying.

Those who believe they are entitled to funding can only do so via the stated websites.

The council will not provide any financial aid to individuals or businesses who do not apply before the deadline.

1pm on Monday, March 18, marks the deadline for all applications.

Additionally, all flooding incidents need to have been documented via the Oxfordshire Flooding Report form.

For those experiencing difficulties with the application process, or requiring additional support, email communityconnectors@southandvale.gov.uk or call 01235 422600 (option 3), who are available to assist during office hours.
