Waddesdon Manor is set to publicly display, for the first time ever, an early masterpiece by famed Bolognese painter Guercino this spring from March 20, to October.

Waddesdon is near Bicester just over the Oxfordshire county line in Buckinghamshire.

The painting, depicting Old Testament figure Moses, was rediscovered in 2022 in France, marking a significant addition to Guercino's body of work.

It will be exhibited alongside four other historic paintings, brought together for the first time since leaving Guercino’s studio in 1651.

Pippa Shirley, director of Waddesdon said: "We are so excited to be able to display this group of paintings in a first for Guercino at Waddesdon, and to put a new acquisition on display also for the first time."
