An ungraded Ofsted inspection at a Kidlington primary school has suggested that the school could be rated 'outstanding' at its next graded inspection.

St Thomas More Catholic Primary School currently has a 'good' rating.

However, the inspector said: "The evidence gathered suggests that the inspection grade might be outstanding if a graded inspection were carried out."

The school, part of The Pope Francis Multi Academy Trust, was highlighted for its "family-like" atmosphere where students felt more than just safe and happy.

They demonstrated an exceptional sense of belonging.

The inspector added: "The school values are fully realised and celebrated at every opportunity."

The report highlighted the ambition for all students to succeed, particularly applauding the achievements of students with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND) due to the excellent support available.

Praise was given to the behavioural standards of the school, described as "first rate," with older students taking up mentoring roles for younger school mates.

The school's curriculum also received praise, beginning even in Nursery where "children get off to a flying start in early years".

This curriculum offers a broad, balanced educational journey structured to provide knowledge building.

Reading, in particular, gets top billing and excites pupils as it integrates widely into their learning across subjects.

The school's dedication to ensuring high attendance emphasises the engaging nature of its curriculum and overall atmosphere.

Celebrating the exceptional quality of personal development at St Thomas More was the engagement students had with both school and British values.

The school promotes local and national charities, fostering an inclusive and diverse community spirit.

The leadership was also praised for its ambition and understanding of the school community.

Both staff and families recognised the "commitment and dedication" of the teachers and the effective safeguarding arrangements that ensure a safe learning environment.

Looking ahead to its next graded inspection, St Thomas More Catholic Primary School is indicating an upward trajectory, potentially moving their status from 'Good' to 'Outstanding.'

The school said its "dedication to excellence in education, community, and personal development is testament to the hard work by everyone at the school".

Full details of the report can be found on the School's website.

The school's previous graded inspection took place in 2018, during which, inspectors awarded a 'good' rating in all areas.

The inspector said at the time that the school offered a "broad and rich curriculum that prepares pupils well for life in 21st century Britain".

They also praised the "kind, respectful and extremely considerate" pupils who "behave very well in class and around the school".
