A former stationery cupboard at Witney Community Support Service has been repurposed into a beauty room dedicated to adults with additional needs.
Officially opened by Witney Town mayor, Owen Collins, the facility was named Glitz and Glam by its users.
Councillor Tim Bearder, Oxfordshire County Council’s cabinet member for adult social care, said: "Hot off the heels of Ta Da! beauty salon in Banbury, Witney Community Support Service has taken the initiative of opening their own therapy room.
"This gives the adults who use the service access to treatments, which can make a real difference to their everyday wellbeing.
"It's wonderful to see our adult community support services sharing ideas and developing their centres for the benefit of the people they support."
The new beauty room offers treatments encompassing shampooing, setting, and cutting hair.
Male grooming services such as ear, nose and eyebrow trims are also available.
These services are provided by support worker and trained stylist, Charlie Lonsdale, with customers paying a nominal fee to cover the product costs.
Selina Crozier, team leader at Witney Community Support Service, said: "Our service provides vital support to adults with learning disabilities, older people, people with physical disabilities, and mental health needs, in our day centre setting.
"This project has been a real team effort over the last few months.
"Many of us take visiting a salon for granted and this new facility will hugely benefit many who are not able to benefit from this experience."
