POLICE have removed the cordon at a beauty spot on the edge of Oxford after a woman was found dead in the wooded area.

Officers and police vehicles descended on Shotover Country Park in Headington early on Thursday morning (March 21). 

It was later announced in the evening by Thames Valley Police that a woman aged 28 had been found dead at the site.

The woman was found at around 6.45am on Thursday with police now investigating it as an ‘unexplained death’.

Sections of the park had been closed off to the public with three separate police taped cordons in place.

However, as of Saturday afternoon (March 23), the cordons had been removed and people were free to roam the area.

No further information surrounding the death has been released by Thames Valley Police at this stage.
