Banbury United have completed the signing of 19-year-old Birmingham City striker Ben Beresford on loan until the end of the season.

The under-21s player signed his first professional contract with Birmingham City this summer, committed to a two-year term, with the option of a further year.

Beresford has made 18 appearances for Birmingham under-18s, during which he has scored four goals, and provided one assist.

The striker already has professional experience this season, having made five appearances for Birmingham's senior team, four of them competing in the Professional Development League.

In November 2023, Beresford completed a loan move to Gloucester City to play in the Vanarama National League North.

He scored seven goals in 21 matches during his time with the Tigers.

One of those goals was the winner against Banbury United in a 2-1 victory in January.

He is in good form having scored against Warrington last Saturday, March 16, and having netted in a 10-goal thriller against Boston United earlier in the season.

The news was shared ahead of the side's Vanarama National League North match against Curzon Ashton at the weekend.

The 3 pm kick-off ended in a 4-1 defeat for the Puritans.

This leaves them third from bottom on 37 points.

It was the side's 21st defeat in 38 league games this season.
