The main road from Banbury to Oxford closes today for a fortnight.

The A4260 Oxford Road at Adderbury will be closed from Tuesday April 2  until Tuesday April 16 for sewer repairs by Thames Water south of the Red Lion pub.

There will be a lengthy 40-mile diversion which will be signed but drivers are being warned of potential delays.

Due to the diversion the Stagecoach X4 bus service will be be unable to service both stops in each direction at the south end of A4260 in Adderbury.

The closest alternative stops will be at the junction of High Street/A4260.

Services will divert via High Street, Water Lane, New Road, Berry Hill Road, before rejoining the A4260 towards Oxford.

In both directions the X4 will follow the S4 route through Adderbury.

All stops along the diversion routes will be served.
