Eight Bicester firefighters are set to tackle a hike in Wales while dressed in full firefighting kit to raise funds for a mental health charity.

The team from Bicester Fire Station have made the decision to take on the Snowdon horseshoe hike in their heavy fire gear as they look to support the work of Mind.

The path is notoriously difficult, including some grade one scrambling and a high level of exposure on Crib Goch

The route which they will tackle on April 14 will take the firefighters over four mountain peaks including Snowdon, the highest mountain in Wales.

Donations to the firefighters can be made via Go Fund Me while updates on their challenge will be posted on Bicester Fire Station's Facebook page.

The team said: "Please support us if you can by donating and be sure to follow our Facebook page for updates next week.

"Thank you in advance for your contribution to this cause that means so much to us."

Mind is a charity working to ensure anyone struggling with mental health issues can turn to them for advice and support.

The charity says it aims to make "mental health an everyday priority" and that it brings "together an unstoppable network of individuals and communities" made up of "people who care about mental health" in order to "make a difference".
