A CONVICTED sex offender has pleaded guilty to a further count of child sex abuse.

Vicky Butler, 32, was on trial at Oxford Crown Court at the end of March charged with sexually assaulting two young girls when he was in his early 20s in Witney.

He has denied the offences – four counts of assaulting a girl under the age of 13, two counts of assaulting a girl under 13 by penetration, and one count of rape.

However, Butler, of Little Hardings, Welwyn Garden City, Hertfordshire, was found guilty by a jury of all counts bar one.

They couldn’t reach a verdict on the count of rape.

At Oxford Crown Court on Thursday afternoon (April 11), Butler appeared charged with one count of sexual activity with a 13-year-old in 2013 on at least three occasions.

Butler pleaded guilty to the offence.

However, a trial date has been set for the rape count which the jury could not reach a verdict on.

Butler is due to appear at the same court on October 21.

It was heard during the plea proceedings that the trial may not go ahead if it is deemed not in the public interest to pursue the case.

The Crown Prosecution Service will let the court know within the next two weeks.
