An RAF Benson serviceman is set to take on an 87-mile solo trek for charity.
On Wednesday, May 1, Jake Palliser will embark on the Ridgeway Expedition, a trek across the Ridgeway National Trail from Avebury in Wiltshire to Ivinghoe Beacon in Buckinghamshire, to raise money for the RAF Benevolent Fund.
The charity offers financial, emotional, and practical support to serving and retired RAF personnel and their families.
Air Specialist (Class 1) Jake Palliser, aged 26, has served in the RAF for eight years and works as an air and space operations specialist at RAF Benson.
He said: "I’ve had some truly amazing experiences, travelling the world, jumping out of planes and being part of events that have really made a difference to others.
"Work aside, my family are my backbone, as is the case with many military personnel.
“Throughout my various deployments, the fund have organised trips and activities for my wife and family."
He has set up a GoFundMe page and has raised more than £600 so far.
He added: "My wife and I are expecting our first baby this year, so now is an important time to contribute back to the RAF Benevolent Fund.
"Having had support from the fund ourselves, we’ve seen first hand how amazing this organisation is."
During the expedition, Mr Pallister will be living self-sufficiently, wild camping, and surviving on ration packs for the course of four to five days.
