Several key city centre roads in Oxford will close on bank holiday Monday due to a special event.

On May 6, numerous roads in the city will be completely closed from the start of services until around 11.30am.

The Bannister Track Miles event will close roads including Iffley Road, The Plain roundabout and High Street.

All bus stops on the High Street will be suspended during the event; outbound buses can be boarded either at Westgate, St Clement's or Cowley Road, The Plain.

This means that many services will operate differently to usual and special timetables have been released for the diverted services.

One of the affected services are buses travelling between Oxford and the London airports on Monday.

Here is a full list of which services are affected and how:

Airline

During the times of the closure, the airline will divert between Brookes University and Gloucester Green.

Coaches will not serve St Clement's, High Street, St Aldates or Speedwell Street in either direction.

Any outbound passengers from Oxford City Centre will need to board coaches at Gloucester Green coach station.

The first trip to operate via the normal airline route will be the 11.50am from Oxford.

 

3

Service 3 will be suspended during the times of the Iffley Road closure. The first trips are scheduled to be the 12.05pm from Rose Hill and 12.35pm from Oxford, Westgate.

 

3A

During the times of the closure, service 3A will run along the normal route from Cowley to Iffley (Freelands Road), then non-stop via Donnington Bridge Road and Abingdon Road to serve Speedwell Street and then stops to Oxford Rail Station. This diversion will be in operation in both directions.

Towards the Rail Station, buses will serve Speedwell St S1, Westgate E8, Park End St D5 and Rail Station R2.

Towards Cowley, buses will serve Rail Station R2, Park End St D1, Westgate M1 and Speedwell St S2.

The first trips to operate via the normal 3A route will be the 11.23am from Cowley and the 12.20pm from Oxford, Westgate.

 

5

During the times of the closure, service 5 will run between Blackbird Leys and The Plain.

The first trips to operate via the normal 5 route to the Rail Station will be the 11am from Blackbird Leys and the 11.26am from the Rail Station.

 

5A

During the times of the closure, a shuttle service will operate between Minchery Farm and Templars Square, where passengers will need to transfer onto service 1 or 5 to travel to The Plain.

Tickets will be accepted for onward travel so you can buy a ticket from Minchery Farm to Oxford City Centre as usual.

The first trips to operate via the normal 5A route will be the 11.10am from Minchery Farm and the 11.42am from Oxford, Speedwell Street.

 

8

During the times of the closure, service 8 will divert from Brookes University to Oxford City Centre. Stops will not be served inbound at Glebe Street, St Clement's, Queen's Lane or High Street.

Buses will divert non-stop via Marston Road, Cherwell Drive, Marston Ferry Road and Banbury Road and set down at Magdalen Street and Westgate only.

Towards Barton, buses will operate normal route, but will not serve Turl Street T2 or Queen's Lane K4. Buses will pick up at Westgate E2 and St Clement's A.

The first trips to operate via the normal 8 route will be the 11.19am from Barton and the 11.40am from Oxford, Westgate.

 

11

During the times of the closure, buses on service 11 will terminate at Templars Square, where passengers will need to transfer onto service 1 or 5 to travel to The Plain.

Tickets will be accepted for onward travel so you can buy a ticket to Oxford City Centre as usual.

The first trips to operate via the normal 11 route will be the 12.45pm from Watlington and the 14.55pm from Oxford, St Aldates.

 

15

During the times of the closure, service 15 will divert from the Union Street stop on Morrell Avenue, serving all stops along Marston Road, Old Marston Road and Oxford Road to Cherwell Drive, then non-stop to Magdalen Street and Westgate. This diversion will operate in both directions.

In the city centre, buses will pick up towards Wood Farm from Westgate stop E3 and Magdalen Street stop C2.

Passengers from Marston who would normally use service X3 to and from Oxford City can use the 15 during the closure.

The first trips to operate via the normal 15 route will be the 11.20am from Wood Farm and the 11.50am from Oxford, Police Station.

 

35

During the times of the closure, journeys towards Abingdon on service 35 will commence from Police Station stop P1. Journeys towards Oxford will operate as usual.

The first trip to operate from Westgate E3 as normal will be the 11.40am from Oxford.

 

46

During the times of the closure, service 46 will terminate at Speedwell Street S1. Buses towards Great Milton will start at Police Station P1.

The first trips to operate to and from the Westgate as normal will be the 10.50am from Great Milton and the 11.52am from Oxford, Westgate.

 

11X

Service 11X will be suspended during the times of the closure. The first trip is scheduled to be the 11.21am from BMW Car Factory Gate, which is the 11.34am from Oxford, Queen's Lane.

 

400

During the times of the closure, service 400 will divert from Brookes University to Oxford City Centre. Stops will not be served inbound at St Clement's, Queen's Lane or High Street. Buses will divert non-stop via Marston Road, Cherwell Drive, Marston Ferry Road and Banbury Road and set down at Magdalen Street, Park End Street and the Railway Station.

Towards Wheatley, buses will operate normal route, but will not serve Westgate M3, Speedwell St S2, St Aldates G6 or Queen's Lane K4. Buses will pick up at Rail Station R1, Park End St D1, New Road D4 and St Clement's A.

The first trips to operate via the normal 400 route will be the 11.07am from Wheatley and the 11.33am from the Rail Station.

 

U5

During the times of the closure, service U5 will divert from The Original Swan to Oxford City Centre non-stop via Donnington Bridge and Abingdon Road. Buses will set down at the Police Station.

Towards Brookes University, buses will operate from Westgate E1 and the direct to The Plain to resume normal route.

The first trips to operate via the normal U5 route will be the 11.10am from Brookes University and the 11.50am from Oxford, Police Station.

 

X1

During the times of the closure, towards Oxford City Centre, service X1 will operate via the normal route to the Rail Station.

Towards Wantage, buses will operate via Speedwell Street, picking up at Westgate M6 instead of St Aldates, then resuming normal route from the Police Station.

The first trip to operate via the normal X1 route towards Wantage will be the 12pm from Oxford Rail Station.

 

X2

During the times of the closure, service X2 will operate the normal route to Westgate. Towards Didcot, journeys will commence from Westgate E4 at the normal times, then operate via Oxpens to the Police Station, then via the normal route.

The first trip to operate via the normal X2 route towards Didcot will be the 11.40am from Oxford, Westgate.

 

X3

During the times of the closure, service X3 will be split into two routes in the city centre.

From Abingdon, we will operate the normal route as far as Police Station, then terminate at Westgate.

Towards Abingdon, journeys will commence from Westgate E4, then operate via Oxpens to the Police Station, then via the normal route.

From Barton towards the city centre, buses will operate the normal route as far as the Cherwell Drive stop, then non-stop via Marston Ferry Road and Banbury Road to call at Magdalen Street East, then run non-stop to Westgate. Towards Barton, buses will pick up at Westgate E3 and Magdalen Street C2.

Although service X3 will operate as two routes, connections will be available at the Westgate between the two services and these can be seen on the timetable.

The first trips to operate via the normal X3 route will be the 11am from Abingdon and the 11.17am from Barton.

 

X32

During the times of the closure, service X32 will start and finish at the Police Station. Buses will depart Police Station P1 at the normal times and will not serve St Aldates or Queen's Lane.

The first trip to operate via the normal X32 route towards Didcot will be the 11.57am from Oxford, Queen's Lane.

 

X40

During the times of the closure, service X40 will divert from Iffley (Freelands Road) non-stop via Donnington Bridge Road and Abingdon Road to serve Speedwell Street and Westgate in both directions.

Towards Reading, buses will pick up at Westgate E1 and Speedwell Street S2.

The first trips to operate via the normal X40 route will be the 11.05am from Reading and the 12.50pm from Oxford, Westgate.
