The parents of a teenage cyclist who died while on her way to school have aid tribute to their daughter's vibrant personality.

Sarah Waterhouse was killed after a collision with a coach in Colwell Drive, Abingdon, on Monday. The 17-year-old was a talented student at Larkmead School and had just received four As in her AS-level exams.

Last night, her parents Gillian and John said: "Sarah was a loving and caring girl who had endless enthusiasm for everything she did in her own quiet way.

"Her insatiable desire to try out new things and vibrancy of life led her to having many diverse hobbies and interests."

Mr and Mrs Waterhouse said their daughter had been an enthusiastic Guide. They added: "Sarah loved wildlife, enjoyed snorkelling and was a keen scuba diver who had recently undergone training to be an instructor. She was just completing her silver Duke of Edinburgh Award."

Friends have left messages on websites with tributes to popular Sarah, who intended to apply to Cambridge University to study natural sciences.

Luke Fraser, who used to dive with Sarah, said: "I always looked forward to going to the dive club to see her."

Classmate Melissa Bricknell added: "There's a huge void in our cosy little biology class now."
