Fifty workers have gone back to work this morning following a one-day strike at Didcot Power Station in support of national protests against the use of foreign labour.

RWE npower, the firm which owns the plant, said the strikers were all contractors working for three firms, Doosan Babcock, Cape and Hertel UK, and went home yesterday morning.

None of its own staff were involved, the company said.

The sympathy strike took place in support of walkouts at the Lindsey oil refinery in Lincolnshire.

Operations at Didcot A and B power station had not been affected, the company spokesman added.
