Sir – Following on from Swagbag’s letter to you re delivery of new telephone directories (January 22): I was appalled to arrive home the other day and find our new directory lying on a wet path, when all the deliverer had to do was open our porch door and put it in the dry.
Needless to say, the plastic covering did not do its job and I had to throw the directory away in our blue box.
The security aspect of these deliveries is highly important but so is the waste of paper and the annoyance at not having an up-to-date directory.
