Abingdon paid heavily for their inability to convert chances into goals as they suffered their first defeat of 2009, losing 3-1 to South Bucks at Tilsley Park in South League Regional Divison 1.

The hosts started strongly, Will Trigg netting from the penalty spot after the ball had struck a defender's foot on the goal-line.

South Bucks equalised when Will Donaldson scored at a penalty corner.

Despite creating several good chances, Abingdon were unable to breach the South Bucks defence.

Ten minutes after the restart, Donaldson made it 2-1.

As Abingdon pressed hard for an equaliser, South Bucks broke away to score the winner through Matt Rayner.

Wallingford were knocked off the top when losing 2-0 at Marlow.
