THE RSPCA has released an X-ray image of a second cat to be shot at with an air rifle in three months in Banbury.

The pet was shot in the Cherwell Heights estate last month and is still recovering from its injuries.

The pellet just missed the animal’s lungs.

RSPCA inspector Will Rippon said: “Those who use animals as targets for air weapons either have no understanding of the pain and distress they are causing or they just don’t care. Either way they need to be stopped.”

Ginger cat Billie was left fighting for her life after she was shot in the side in Howard Road, Banbury, in February.

Across Oxfordshire, there were seven reported cat shootings in 2007 and eight in 2008. Anyone with information can call the RSPCA on 0300 1234 999.
