A man who falsely claimed more than £4,000 in benefits has been given a suspended prison sentence.

Paul Wayne Caton, 40, of Harlequin Close, Banbury, admitted unlawfully claiming £2,364.69 in housing benefit, £855.22 in council tax benefit and £1,272.11 in other benefits from the Department for Work and Pensions.

He was given a five-month prison sentence, suspended for two years, and was ordered to carry out 200 hours of unpaid work, when he appeared at Oxford Crown Court.

He was ordered to pay back all the benefits he fraudulently claimed.
