Many people decried the decision to rebrand Oxford Airport as London Oxford but the proof of the pudding, as they say, is in the eating.
Today we are pleased to report that Swiss airline Baboo has announced it will be offering a weekly service to Geneva from mid-December, the first airline to offer scheduled international flights from Oxfordshire.
This is not just good news for skiers heading a winter break in the Alps.
It bodes well for the rest of us – and the wider Oxfordshire economy too.
Until recently, few people living outside the county were even aware that there was an airport at Kidlington.
Now services fly to Jersey and are set to take off for Geneva, with word fast getting round that London Oxford, albeit tenuously-named, is a serious player.
At this rate, don’t bet against flights to other European cities.
You could say things are starting to take off for this small, but perfectly formed, airport.
