A PRIZE-WINNING montage of the sights of Didcot has been made into a Christmas card.

East Hagbourne artist and illustrator Linda Benton’s two-and-half-foot wide watercolour was the public’s favourite exhibit at the Didcot Open Art exhibition at the Civic Hall.

She painted the work after touring the town on her bike, taking photographs.

She said: “I’ve lived in the area for a long time, and I’ve meant to do something with the best bits of Didcot for a while. I knew the different places throughout the whole of Didcot, and one sunny day in April I went out with the camera to photograph them. I put all the photographs out on the floor and tried to put them in a logical order.”

The first print made of the work was sent to the mayor of Meylan, Didcot’s French twin town.

Now members of the public can buy blank cards featuring the painting, right, from the town council’s One Stop Shop on Britwell Road, for £2.
