THE father of a woman who died alongside her boyfriend in a car crash has urged people to wear seatbelts.

Alice Rundall died when her car careened off a country lane, known as Valentine’s Bottom, in Chalgrove.

Passenger Andrew Austin, 43, also died at the scene on April 12.

Neither was wearing a seatbelt, Oxfordshire Coroner’s Court heard yesterday.

The 27-year-old driver, described as “a happy-go-lucky” woman, had worked as a lighting rigger on a Madonna tour and the Brit Awards before her death.

Her father, Tim, 51, said after the inquest: “Obviously the message that comes through is for God’s sake wear a safety belt.

“She was a life-loving young lady who lived by her own rules.”

The couple, who lived on a bus at Lane Farm, Chalgrove, were returning home from the Green Tree pub in Wallingford.

Coroner Nicholas Gardiner recorded verdicts of accidental death and said: “They would have probably survived had they been wearing belts.”
