THE wife of a popular Carterton councillor and businessman who died suddenly has paid tribute to a “wonderful family man”.

Dave King, right, who represented the town on West Oxfordshire District Council, died while staying at a friend’s home in Kings Court on October 31.

His wife Mandy King, of Barley Crescent, Shilton Park, described Mr King – father to Poppy, 11, and Belinda, eight – as devoted to his family and the town he served for seven years.

She said: “He was a wonderful family man. He was a very good husband and a wonderful father.

“He was a kind man who would go out of his way to help everyone. It’s a very big loss to the local community. He was a popular man.”

More than 250 people attended 50-year-old Mr King’s funeral at the Church of St John the Evangelist, in Carterton, last Thursday.

Mr King was on Carterton Town Council for five years and the district council since 2002.

He also ran the family business King Haulage.
