An IT firm is running a series of workshops to help firms better understand the threat to their business from computer hackers.

Experts at CI-Net baseed in Kidlington will demonstrate how easy it is to access hacking tools from the Internet and show how easi;y they can be used to access a website.

Andy Conway, technical director at CI-Net, which sells computer security and wide area networking technology said: “As well as being a fun way of getting an insight into the methods used by hackers and cyber criminals the workshops will provide useful information about technologies that can be used to protect organisations’ computer networks.

“Of course we will stick to revealing widely known hacking methods which no longer pose a real security risk. "But this provides a good picture of the potential dangers for those who want to be able to protect themselves. After all, it’s always good to get to know your enemy."

CI-Net’s next Hack the Lab workshop takes place on January 7 at the company’s offices, Network House, Langford Locks, Kidlington OX5 1GA It is targeted at IT and business staff at medium sized private and public sector organisations.

The price is £100 per person.
