I WAS so pleased, to see the excellent points of view on The Cross Keys pub in Witney, which refused to serve a group of soldiers in uniform (Oxford Mail, December 2).
Now I say to the people of Witney, would you like to be seen entering the Cross Keys pub? I know I wouldn’t.
My first thought was the pub must have been booked by The Taliban. There are plenty of other good pubs.
I am sure this was not the kind of publicity Witney wanted – especially when you pick up any daily paper and see the mass of people standing on the streets of Wootton Bassett, regardless of the weather, to honour and pay respects to yet another young man in uniform on his last journey.
God bless Wootton Bassett.
