The Royal Sun (Begbroke) reached the semi-finals of the Oxford Mail Trophy for the first time following a 66-66 draw with The Plough (Kingham).

In Group A, Bicester Civil Service suffered their first defeat of the season going down 78-77 to the students from St Cross College, Oxford.

Despite this setback, the Civil Service progressed to the semi-final stage with six points and a superior aggregate points tally.

Winners of Group C were the Kings Arms (Wheatley), the only team with a maximum eight points.

The fourth qualifying team were The Plough (Kingham) who finished joint top with the Royal Sun in Group B.

In Thursday's semi-finals, the Royal Sun play Kings Arms while the Plough meet Bicester Civil Service. In the semi-finals of the Supplementary Cup, also to be played on Thursday, the New Inn (Westcote) play Jolly Sportsman (Eynsham) while the Dashwood Arms (Kirtlington) meet the Chandos Arms (Oakley).

The final of the Knockout Cup, between the Rose and Crown (Didcot) and Bicester Civil Service, takes place at the Cherwell Club, Kidlington, on May 2.

Teams wishing to attend the Ted Payne Memorial Trophy and trophy presentation evening on May 16 should contact the organisers by Sunday, May 5.
