Vehicle parts and logistics firm Unipart has won a top international award.

The Cowley-based firm has been named Best International Aftermarket Company by the European Institute of Transport Management.

EITM spokesman, Patrick Sheedy, said: "The provision of quality parts and accessories for the commercial vehicle sector, as well as for the marine, rail and caravanning sectors was considered very impressive."

Mr Sheedy also commended UGC's dedication to consultancy and training.

The judges also noted how Unipart's profits had increased in a difficult period for the industry. It also landed 25 new contracts last year. Other key criteria included customer service, innovation, investment in technology and staff morale.

Unipart chief executive, John Neill, said: "It is particularly encouraging to receive this award at a time of such unprecedented change in the automotive industry, and to be recognised as a leader in our field."
