An outbreak of thefts from vehicles parked in public car parks in Abingdon and the surrounding area has prompted the police to issue a warning to owners not to leave belongings on display.
The police are mounting a campaign to catch thieves who have been operating at car parks in Abingdon and Kennington.
Car park areas at local beauty spots are also proving a favourite target for the thieves.
Vehicles have been broken into and CD players, radios and telephones stolen. In one incident at the Rye Farm car park in Abingdon a car was broken into and a CD player and 30 CDs taken.
Insp Robin Rickard, of Abingdon police, said: "This is a very worrying outbreak of thefts and we are taking steps to try to stop it.
"But the public can do a lot to help themselves by not leaving belongings and valuable items on show in the car.
"Take them with you or store them in the vehicle out of view."
