A man was remanded in custody after appearing before a judge at Oxford Crown Court, charged with attempting to murder his common-law wife.
David Coleman, 47, of Riley Drive, Banbury, is alleged to have attacked Andrea Stratford on April 11 with a knife, length of flex, hammer, cricket bat and lamp, before trying to smother her with a pillow. The court heard Miss Stratford, with whom the defendant has two children, was still in hospital. Coleman will re-appear on May 31. No application for bail was made.
