Two of Watlington's most famous residents, actor Jeremy Irons and actress Sinead Cusack, his wife, are to help plans to extend the town's library.
Early next year they will give a public play reading.
The event will be one of several aimed at raising £100,000 to fund an extension to the library and buy new equipment.
Events include Benson Choral Society performing Handel's Messiah before Christmas, a large bric-a-brac sale to be held at Foreman's Garage in High Street on May 11 and a flag day in July.
Friends of Watlington Library, which launched the appeal, hope the extension and new equipment will be of special help to children and the elderly.
