The Mayor of Abingdon's charity fund has given £500 to a day centre for young children from disadvantaged families.
David Allinson gave the money to the National Children's Home family centre, at Caldecott Primary School, in south Abingdon, on April 2, 2002.
Mr Allinson said: "The NCH family centre is my chosen charity during my term of office. Much of the money for the donation came from a joint music concert in the town earlier this year.
"The centre performs an outstanding service to young mothers who visit the centre during weekdays.
"They can socialise with other mothers while their young children play."
The school site is temporary, until a purpose-built facility is constructed later this year on another part of the Caldecott School site.
