A company which offered a venue for a range of arts and exhibition activities is diversifying and expanding to concentrate on holiday accommodation.

For the past seven years, Kingfisher Barn, at Rye Farm, Abingdon, has staged art exhibitions, wedding receptions and training.

Eighteen months ago it opened three holiday cottages, which managers said had been such a success that the main barn had now been converted to provide two further three-bedroom lodges, which will be available from June.

The 10 rooms next to the Kingfisher Barn have been upgraded but there will still be an emphasis on accommodating the disabled, with all of this accommodation wheelchair accessible.

This will allow it to continue to cater for groups such as Mencap which have used the facilities for years.

Director Liz Beaumont said: "There are now a lot more centres in the area offering venues for arts organisations and exhibitions than there were seven years ago.

"So we have decided to concentrate on the accommodation side which has attracted people from all over the world."
