Oxford Hawks beat Oxford University 2-0 in their last friendly before the start of the league season.

The students combined well in the first half, creating pressure on the home team and forcing Hawks to defend.

However, it was Hawks who had the better chances and were awarded a penalty stroke only for Sue Clark to see her attempt saved.

Hawks made better use of the space in the second half and threatened the University goal on a number of occasions.

They opened the scoring through newcomer Dallah Smith with a fine strike from the edge of the circle.

Hawks continued to press and were rewarded with a second goal when Wendy Gundry tipped in a Vicky Easton short corner strike.

This Saturday, Hawks, who last year finished joint second in Berks, Bucks & Oxon Division 1, open their league programme against Newbury, who topped the table, but failed in the play-offs for the South League.
