Jack Linfoot, of Bicester, and Brackley racer Edward Hoy finished the Stars of Tomorrow karting championship in triumphant fashion for the Ford Racing Young Guns team at the Three Sisters Circuit, near Wigan.

Hoy, who was voted driver of the season by his fellow competitors, suffered an early setback when he was involved in a collision in his first heat, but went on to finish first and second in his remaining heats.

This put him just behind Linfoot, who started the final from pole position after scoring third, fifth and first place finishes in his three heats.

Linfoot led the final until four laps from the end when he was passed by his team-mate Hoy. But was not too disappointed, having set the fastest lap in three out of four races on the day.

The result meant Linfoot finished the season in 14th place in the championship and Hoy in ninth. Both are looking forward to a successful winter series and an assault on the Champions of the Future series in 2002.
