Grove continued to set the pace alongside Oxford Harlequins at the top with a 32-15 victory away to Buckingham.

The home side opened the scoring with a try, but a try by right wing Paul Shepherd and a penalty from full back Nick Sevier put Grove 8-5 ahead at half-time.

In the second half, Grove took charge and cruised to victory with two tries from left wing Gareth Hudson and one by Sevier, who added three conversions and a penalty.

Witney failed to capitalise on a good first-half performance against a robust High Wycombe side who ran out deserved 20-8 winners.

Wycombe used the wide pitch well and broke from their own half to score under the posts. A conversion and penalty put them 10-0 up.

Witney applied pressure with strong running from second row John Williams and replied with a Francis Grant penalty and a try by centre Ben Dunmore to trail only 10-8 at half-time.

After going close to scoring in the second half, Witney fell away as poor tackling allowed Wycombe to score two further tries.

Travelling to Beaconsfield with a depleted side, Chipping Norton went down 20-7, with all the points coming in the first half.

Beaconsfield led 20-0 before Chippy were rewarded with a fine team try, finished off by wing Martin Souch. Adam Smith converted from wide out.

After the break, Chippy did not concede any more points, with John Hickman enjoying a fine debut at No 8.
