A Banbury firm is encouraging drivers in England to fly the flag on their cars on St George's Day - April 23.

Car accessory firm Summit Automotive is offering a new St George cross badge for vehicle owners who want to fly the flag in the face of an EU ruling next month banning anything other than the European flag from registration plates. Summit sales and marketing director Bob Cattle, pictured above, said: "The Welsh, Scots and Irish have always been proud of their traditions.

"Now is the time for the English to regain their national pride and fly the flag for their country."

The flags are available in two versions - large plastic moulded and a crystal dome that fit on the outside of the vehicle. Summit supplies a number of national flags and stickers along with a wide range of motor products, from essentials such as replacement mirror glass and warning triangles, to torches and tax-disc holders.

Prices for the St George stickers start from £3.
