Plans to build a block of retirement flats have been given a cautious welcome by a town council.
An application to build 35 sheltered apartments for the elderly in Chipping Norton, plus manager's accommodation and communal rooms, has been submitted to West Oxfordshire District Council.
Chipping Norton councillors have written to the district council saying development of Souch Autos' former garage and scrapyard in The Green was welcomed, but changes to the plans were needed.
Their letter said the provision of 12 parking spaces was not enough and that one space for each flat was required.
The letter said visitor parking was also needed and suggested underground parking should be considered.
The town council also said the proposed building would be out of character with the street scene and the conservation area.
The council warned of traffic problems, with vehicles from the development clashing with children going to and leaving St Mary's School.
