Chinnor's ambition to go through the season with an immaculate away record was thwarted when they lost 15-10 at Slough in their last South West Division 2 East game.

The result meant that Slough clinched the runners-up and play-off spot .

The game was decided midway through the second half. Slough No 8 Paul Mason had been tackled some 15 yards in front of the Chinnor posts. A blast from the referee's whistle indicated a penalty, which Chinnor felt was for Mason failing to release the ball.

Instead, it was awarded to Slough and the No. 8 quickly took a tap and strolled over between the posts to give the home side a 12-3 lead.

Chinnor rallied with a try by prop Gary Woodburn, converted by Dave Cook, who had kicked a first-half penalty, but a late penalty sealed it for Slough.
