Oyez! Oyez! Gerry Shea is to be Bicester's carnival crier.
If he succeeds in attracting attention in his John Bull outfit, he could become the official town crier.
Town councillors are giving him an audition on carnival day, July 22.

If they think he does the job well, they could take him on permanently.
Gerry, 54, a self-employed garage door fitter, offered the services of his vocal chords when he realised Bicester did not have a town crier.
He wrote to Bicester Town Council outlining his credentials and councillors this week agreed to give him a live trial.
Town mayor Debbie Pickford said: "If he helps sell tickets by parading in the town centre on carnival day and the day before, I am all for letting him have a go."
