Oxfordshire suffered their third defeat in the Tetleys Bitter National Under 20 Championship when they lost 25-5 to Dorset & Wilts at Banbury.
Before this game Oxon knew they could not qualify from South West Group B, but such was the team spirit that a full squad of 22 players turned out to give the visitors a good contest.
Despite missing three penalty kicks at goal , Oxon led 5-3 at half-time, after Martin Nutt made a long penetrating run to set up Gavin Stenton for a try.
Early in the second half, full back Dave Parker completed a move from recycled Dorset and Wilts possession to regain his side the lead.
The rest of the half saw the visitors add 15 points without reply to complete a disappointing campaign for Oxon.
However, they are a young team with 13 of the squad eligible to play again next year.
