Compton Banker, trained by Gerard Butler at Blewbury, can get punters off to a flying start to the new turf Flat season by landing the randombet.com (Showcase Handicap) (3.10) at Doncaster tomorrow (Thursday).
While many of his rivals look largely exposed, the son of Distinctly North did nothing but improve last season, landing some really good bets when taking the prestigious Portland Handicap at Town Moor in September.
He has to run off a 7lb higher mark here, but could well have improved further through the winter and has the potential to make up into a Group-class sprinter.
Butler has been having his share of success on the all-weather and he can get them fit after an absence. The talented Jamie Spencer is also a positive jockey booking.
Albarahin is another horse who improved throughout last year and Marcus Tregoning's charge can take the Listed Doncaster Mile (3.40).
