Young engineers of the future were challenged to build a tower from spaghetti and marshmallows - and then balance an egg on top.
Pupils at St John's primary school in Wallingford put together the structures as part of National Science Week.
The school's science co-ordinator Ruth Chapman said: "We decided on this challenge because it was something that all our age-groups could attempt. The older children obviously came up with more complex designs. They had to use all their knowledge of forces such as gravity and bridge design."
Other schools in the Wallingford Partnership - a network of schools in Wallingford and the surrounding villages - were due to take up the spaghetti and marshmallow challenge during the course of Science Week.
