Witney's Tony French was sent off for abusive language towards an umpire - but it didn't stop his side beating Wallingford 3-2 to give themselves a chance of avoiding relegation from Area Division 2.

Luck seemed to be against Wallingford - who were suffering their fifth defeat in six matches - as they fell behind when Rob Dyer's cross took a wicked deflection off a defender's stick.

They then hit the post three times before Witney scored a second on the break, French netting after a slick interchange with Steve Bates.

French hardly helped Witney's cause, though, when he was sent off after venting his fury at an umpire.

Wallingford rallied, and goals from Clyde and Rees put them level, the equaliser a mishit shot bouncing over Jon Watkins.

Despite Wallingford controlling much of the latter stages of the match, Witney stole the win with a cracking breakaway goal from Mike Godwin.
