Oxford Devils made it 16 wins in a row at the weekend when they beat Cardiff Clippers for the fourth time this season.

But their 100-82 National League Division 1 victory in Wales came at a price after they lost Steven Riley with a broken nose in the first half.

The injury could mean he misses the end-of-season play-offs.

Clippers put early pressure on the Devils, taking the first quarter 18-16.

In the second period, however, Oxford started to make some headway, with Todd McNeil making a solid contribution. At this point, losing Riley seemed to spur on the Devils who went into the break 44-38 ahead.

As in many games this season, the third session opened up the game for the Devils with Kelly, Angimi and McNeil taking control.

The Cardiff team fought back strongly led by the irrepressible Alexander, but the Devils were in no mood to surrender in the final quarter, pulling away for a comfortable victory.

Coach Bill Baker said: "Losing Steve is a major blow for the team especially with the play-offs looming. But we don't know the extent of the damage yet, so we have to keep our fingers crossed."
