Welsh National Opera returns to the Apollo Theatre from Tuesday to Saturday with its spring season of works by Mozart, Verdi and Berlioz, writes Helen Peacocke.
Their visit begins with a new production of Mozart's The Marriage of Figaro (Tuesday and Friday), conducted by Rinaldo Alessandrini.
This is followed (Wednesday and Saturday) by the revival of the company's fine production of Verdi's La Traviata, with the doomed heroine sung by Irish soprano Cara O'Sullivan.
Berlioz's Beatrice and Benedict will be performed on Thursday and is being sung in English.
