Former cricketer Don Tester drove into office as the new captain of Frilford Heath.

While his shot a lofted drive over extra cover might have been more suited to the cricket field, none of the large gathering of watching members, worried too much.

The 62-year-old retired civil engineer, who lives close to the course, played his cricket locally for Kingston Bagpuize before a knee injury forced his retirement about 15 years ago.

Since then he has concentrated his efforts on golf, getting his handicap down to 13 and serving on the club committee.

Don's two chosen charities for the year are Imperial Cancer Research and Vale House, Botley.
