Sam Donaldson made light of the frosty conditions to strike a stunning four-timer as Highfield edged out Wheatley 84 4-3 in a Premier Division thriller.

Both sides were understrength, but Highfield settled faster, taking a 3-1 interval lead thanks to Donaldson's hat-trick, which included a penalty.

Hosts Wheatley rallied after the break and pulled one back before Donaldson netted his fourth.

Wheatley continued to battle, and although Paul Flack completed his hat-trick, they could not find the elusive fourth.

This was the only game played in the top flight, as once again the weather took its toll on the league programme.

Of the nine league games that took place, most were sensibly delayed to allow the bright sunshine to thaw the ground further.

Yarnton Village could only muster ten players for the trip to White Horse in Division 2, but they took an early lead when Horse keeper dropped a cross, and Martin Reeves gratefully tapped in.

Midway through the half, Chris Jordan netted a second for Yarnton on the break.

Horse fought back in the second half, but could not find a way past stand-in keeper Ian Kibble-White.

At the other end, Reeves completed his hat-trick,

Steve Billington slammed home a penalty after Reeves was brought down, and Jordan netted his second as the ten men triumphed 6-0.

Kevin Castle had an outstanding game in midfield as Riverside won 3-1 away to Celtic Supporters. Moses Orchillo created the first for Neil Fletcher, before Ged Jones extended the lead with a brace.

Celtic rallied in the last quarter of a game, well refereed by Len Silver, and pulled one back.

Ashton Villa won 6-4 at Chalgrove in Division 3, on a pitch more suited to skating.

In a ding-dong game, goals from Gregg Brown, Gordon Bedford, plus a Paul Anderson hat-trick, saw Villa to their tenth straight league victory.
