Oxford City's Mark Rumble won four gold medals in the Oxfordshire County Championships at Tilsley Park, Abingdon, writes Jon MURRAY.

Rumble won the under 13 discus and shot, as well as producing championship-best performances (cbps) in the hammer and javelin.

Other notable efforts from City athletes included golds in the under 20s' 100m, 200m, long jump and triple jump for Nathan Douglas, wins in the under 20 shot, discus, and hammer (cbp) for Anna Howard, and three golds in the veterans' 100m, 200m (cbp) and 400m for Carl Pinder.

Rachael Sutton took gold in both the under-20s' 400m and 800m, and Peter Watson won the javelin and hammer. In the under 17 age group, there were double golds for Gemma Avil in shot (cbp) and discus, Michelle Johansen in the long jump and 100m, and Andrew Moreton in the 400m and 800m.

Matthew O'Connor took gold in the under 13 triple jump and the 80m, while in the under 15s, Hannah England won the 1500m and 800m, and Lucy Sutton won the shot and the discus.

The Oxford girls were particularly pleased to beat all three Radley Ladies' teams in the 4x100m relay, gaining satisfaction after last year's controversial award of the gold to Radley in this event.

But it was a good championship for Radley too. They had a triple gold winner in Saskia Kalmeijer, who won the under 13 high jump, long jump, and 80m.

In the under 17s, Rachel Brenton took golds in the high jump and triple jump (cbp) while Natalie Plateau won both the 200m and 300m. In the under 15s, Samantha Molyneux won the javelin and high jump, while Lauren Taylor had golds in the 100m and 200m, and Carolyn Plateau won the under 13 800m and 1500m.

Witney Roadrunners won three gold medals. Danielle Perry stormed to victory in the under 15 girls' 75m hurdles, recording a time of 13.2 which qualified her to represent Oxon later in the season.

Mike Miles won the veteran men's javelin competition with a throw of 36.22m.

Witney's women's veteran 4x100m relay team of Kim Batts, Dawn Bull, Judith Le Good and Penny Corbett were timed at 63.6 when winning their relay.

Other result: Men's 3000m: 9 H Nickau 10.30.5 pb (Headington).
