KIRTLINGTON, with the Jersey Cup, Mid Oxon Cup and Lord Jersey FA Division 1 shield already in the bag, missed out on a fourth trophy when they went down 3-2 after extra time against Broughton and North Newington in the Dave Wood Invitation Cup final.

Mick O'Driscoll twice equalised for Kirtlington firstly with a long-range drive and then from the penalty spot to take the game into extra time.

But Broughton, who were down to ten men after having a player sent off for a second yellow card in normal time, held on. And after Matthew Tarry also saw red in the first period of extra time for dissent, the Banbury League side grabbed the winner. Meanwhile, Milcombe remain firm favourites for the Division 3 title after 2-1 wins against Islip and Chesterton mean no-one can finish with more points than them, and the only way they can be denied is to lose in a play-off match.

Islip and Abba Athletic were capable of catching Milcombe, but Abba dropped out of the race when they let slip a two-goal lead to go down 3-2 to Islip.

Eddie Hutton and Alan Hutchinson had given Abba a 2-0 lead, and they held on to it until the 15 minutes when Luke Gammon netted twice to bring Islip level and Darren Allen grabbed their winner.
