From: MJ Sargeant, of St Peter's Road, Didcot
I would just like to tell you about my mother. Daphne Sargeant "gave up" smoking on 20th dec 1998, she has not smoked a cigarette since. This has been achieved by sheer strength of mind, and a fierce determination. This without any form of assistance. She had woken up one morning, coughing, and spluttering. This had come as a clear warning to her of the obvious affect on her health, and standard of living. From then on, it was decided, by her,"That's it I'm giving up." True to her word, this is what she has done.
This is written to act as an inspiration to other people. She does not enjoy being in any place where there are smokers, and is now uncomfortable with the smell of nicotine.
She had smoked for 40+ years..
